Blurb
Betrayed and murdered by the people he trusted most, Nick
Valiente wakes up two years earlier—his memories intact, alongside the lifetime
experiences of Arlize Dentragon, a legendary warrior-mage from another
dimension. Armed with future knowledge, strategic brilliance, and arcane-tech
powers that blur the lines between magic and technology, Nick vows to rewrite
his fate.
Determined to dominate the college arena he once neglected,
Nick methodically plots vengeance against those who betrayed him. Yet as he
delves deeper into campus life, he realizes his death was never a simple act of
jealousy or greed. Darker forces are at play: a shadowy tech conglomerate
manipulating consciousness through experimental neural interfaces, mysterious
military factions operating in secrecy, and the ancient Arcadian System
awakening after centuries—responding only to Nick.
As mana and advanced alien technology flood Earth, Nick must
navigate corporate espionage, unravel hidden family legacies, and master
newfound abilities while forging alliances in a world spiraling into chaos.
With his enemies closing in and reality itself fracturing between digital
consciousness and physical existence, Nick’s choices will either doom humanity
or elevate it beyond imagination.
Rebirth Protocol is an intelligent, gritty, emotionally
layered progression fantasy that blends academic intrigue, corporate
conspiracy, and pulse-pounding action reminiscent of The Primal Hunter, TBATE,
and Iron Prince. Follow Nick Valiente as he rises from betrayed victim to
revolutionary power, shaping humanity’s destiny with each calculated step.
Review - Living Smart Is the Best Revenge
But for Nick Valiente, he will live well and crush his
enemies beneath the heel of his boot! Betrayed and murdered by those he once
thought of as friends, Nick undergoes a mysterious rebirth and awakens in his
past with the knowledge and abilities beyond his ken.
Using this newly found power, Nick plans to correct the
mistakes of his previous life and carve out a different, more meaningful life
path while outsmarting those set on sabotaging him, but as he starts laying the
groundwork, he finds himself embroiled in a greater mystery that expands
further than campus life.
Nyxaris brings both drama and emotion to the fore with her
writing, wrapping it in a neat mystical package. The mystery is set up right
from the start and hooks you in with questions of corporate intrigue that you
must learn the answers to.
Her characters are believable with relatable and life-like
motivations and actions. I get just as angry as Nick does when he is treated
like poo on a shoe by his so-called friends, because these are very real and
potent experiences everyone has.
I spotted a couple of spelling mistakes but have yet to come
across any grammar or punctuation errors.
There was repetition of known information, sometimes within
the same chapters, which is common among first drafts. As well as an emphasis on
details around academic and daily routine (times, classes, tasks) that I found unnecessary
for plot progression or character development. While I understand that this is
done to highlight Nick’s newfound focus and discipline as well as set the scene,
their inclusion beyond their initial setup tends to bog down the story’s pacing
despite events happening at a quicker speed.
However, the latter becomes a non-issue from chapter 15
onwards, where the scheduling and routine are integrated more naturally into
the writing style. While the former can be fixed with some editing,
Overall, Rebirth Protocol is an interesting story with a calculating MC willing to put in the work to change his future… and with friends like his, who can blame him?
